NetEase has put an end to speculation that players could easily evade the anti-cheat system in Marvel Rivals. The developer issued a wave of permanent bans to nearly 500 cheaters, and the data reveals a surprising detail: the vast majority of those banned never made it out of the lowest competitive rank.
According to the studio, 474 accounts were permanently suspended after being caught using third-party software or exploits. Of those, roughly 80 percent were stuck in Bronze, the game's base tier. The finding suggests that even with cheats, many players still struggled to climb the ladder. Only a handful of banned accounts had reached higher ranks like Gold or Platinum.
NetEase also addressed rumors that some players had found a way to bypass the anti-cheat system entirely. The company confirmed that no such bypass existed and that the bans were the result of improved detection methods. The developer warned that further waves of bans would follow, and that repeat offenders could face hardware-level restrictions.
The announcement comes as Marvel Rivals continues to grow its player base. While competitive integrity remains a concern in most online shooters, NetEase's quick action and transparent reporting suggest the studio is taking the issue seriously. For now, legitimate players can take some comfort in knowing that even cheaters couldn't escape Bronze.
