In The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, the Great Fairy Fountains are hidden across Hyrule, offering powerful upgrades to Link's magic, health, and items. There are four fountains in total, each requiring a bit of exploration and, in some cases, a specific item to reach. Finding them all is essential for any player aiming to max out their abilities.
The first fountain is in the Lost Woods, just past the Sacred Forest Meadow. You will need the Boomerang or a well-timed roll to open the chest inside, which holds the Din's Fire spell. The second fountain is located on Death Mountain, accessible after you get the Goron's Bracelet. It sits behind a large rock near the Great Fairy's crater. This one rewards you with Farore's Wind, a spell that creates a warp point.
The third fountain is in Zora's River, hidden behind a waterfall. You need to play Zelda's Lullaby on the Triforce symbol nearby to open the entrance. Inside, you will receive Nayru's Love, a protective barrier spell. The fourth and final fountain is in the desert, inside the Spirit Temple. It requires the Silver Gauntlets to lift a heavy block. This fountain does not give a spell but instead doubles your magic meter, which is crucial for using spells more freely.
Each fountain also increases your maximum health by one heart if you have a bottle to catch the Great Fairy's healing magic. Make sure to bring an empty bottle to every fountain. Missing one means you will have to return later. These upgrades are not required to finish the game, but they make the later dungeons and boss fights much easier.
