Capcom has offered a rare and hopeful update on Pragmata, the mysterious sci-fi shooter that has been largely out of sight since its initial reveal. In a recent interview, a company representative hinted that the project may not be a one-off release, suggesting the team sees potential for a broader franchise.
"We've got another IP," the Capcom representative stated, referring to Pragmata as a new property with room to grow. The comment implies that the studio is not treating the game as a standalone experiment but rather as the foundation for future installments. This is a significant shift in tone for a title that was originally announced for a 2022 launch before being delayed indefinitely.
Pragmata was first shown during a PlayStation 5 showcase, featuring a dystopian lunar setting and a young girl accompanied by a robotic companion. Since then, Capcom has released very little new footage or details, leading to speculation that the project might have been scaled back or canceled. The new remarks, however, suggest that development is still active and that the company has long-term plans for the universe.
While Capcom has not announced a new release window, the mention of "another IP" alongside established giants like Resident Evil and Monster Hunter signals that the company is willing to invest in fresh concepts. For now, fans of the sci-fi genre will have to wait for concrete gameplay or a new trailer, but the door is clearly open for more.
