New 'Tomb Raider' actress explains her 'no Laras left behind' approach (exclusive)

Alix Wilton Regan, the new voice of Lara Croft, is taking a very personal approach to the iconic gaming character. In an exclusive interview, the actress explained her "no Laras left behind" philosophy for the role, which she will bring to life in two upcoming titles set for release next year.

Regan, who steps into the boots of the legendary adventurer, says she feels a deep responsibility to honor every version of Lara that came before her. "I think about all the different iterations of this character," she said. "The classic Lara, the survivor Lara, the unified Lara. My goal is to make sure that none of those experiences are forgotten. It's a 'no Laras left behind' approach."

The actress is set to voice Lara in two separate projects dropping in 2025. While details remain under wraps, Regan hinted that the roles will explore different facets of the character's personality and history. She emphasized that her performance aims to bridge the gap between the gritty, origin-story Lara from the recent reboot trilogy and the more confident, globe-trotting adventurer of the original games.

"It is a huge honor, but also a bit terrifying," Regan admitted. "You want to bring something new to the table, but you also want to make sure the fans feel like they are getting the Lara they know and love. I am trying to find the truth in every scene, whether she is scared, angry, or cracking a witty one-liner."

The actress is currently deep in voice recording sessions, describing the work as both physically and emotionally demanding. She noted that capturing Lara's signature grunts, gasps, and battle cries requires a surprising amount of stamina. "It is more athletic than people think," she laughed. "By the end of a long session, you feel like you have actually run through a jungle."
