5 Best Video Games Like Payday

The Payday series is all about planning, teamwork, and controlled chaos. Players suit up, grab their gear, and work together to pull off big heists, whether that means cracking a bank vault or escaping from a burning building. The mix of loud gunfights, stealthy takedowns, and last-second escapes is hard to match. But if you have finished every mission and want more of that same adrenaline, these five games deliver a very similar rush.

First up is GTFO. This one is much more serious and horror-focused, but the core loop is identical. You and three friends descend into a dark underground complex with one goal: grab the objective and get out alive. Communication is everything, and the game punishes sloppy planning. It is not as flashy as Payday, but the tension and the feeling of barely surviving a tough run are just as strong.

Next, consider Deep Rock Galactic. You play as a dwarf miner in space, and your crew is sent into alien caves to dig up resources. The structure is mission-based, with different objectives and difficulty levels. What makes it feel like Payday is the class system and the way each player has a specific job. One person drills, another protects, and everyone has to work together when a swarm of bugs shows up. It is lighter in tone, but the teamwork is just as important.

Another strong choice is Warhammer 40,000: Darktide. This is a first-person shooter where you fight through hordes of enemies in a grim city. The combat is fast and brutal, and the game encourages you to stick with your squad. Like Payday, you are constantly moving between objectives, dealing with unexpected threats, and trying to keep your team alive. The atmosphere is darker, but the moment-to-moment action feels very familiar.

If you want something more tactical, try Ready or Not. This is a police SWAT sim, so you are on the other side of the law. You clear rooms, arrest suspects, and rescue hostages. It is much slower and more methodical than Payday, but the planning and coordination are the same. You need to check corners, use tools, and communicate clearly. It is a great change of pace if you want a more serious take on the heist formula.

Finally, there is The Division 2. This is a looter shooter set in a ruined Washington D.C. You and your friends take on missions that involve infiltrating enemy strongholds, securing supplies, and taking down bosses. The cover-based shooting is different from Payday's run-and-gun style, but the mission structure and the emphasis on loadouts and builds will feel right at home. Plus, the game has a lot of content, so you will not run out of things to do.

All five of these games share that core idea of a small team taking on a big job. They each put their own spin on it, but the feeling of pulling off a tough mission with friends is always there. If you are looking for your next co-op obsession, any of these will keep you busy for a long time.
