I went into Star Wars: Galactic Racer with some doubts. The idea of a roguelite racing game seemed like a strange fit. But after spending time with it, my fears were completely unfounded. The Burnout DNA from developer Fuse Games is obvious in every second on the track. You feel the speed, the risk, and the satisfying crashes in a way that honors both franchises.
The racing itself is fast and aggressive. You boost, drift, and slam into opponents at hundreds of miles per hour. It captures the chaotic energy of the old Episode 1 Pod Racer while adding a modern punch. But what really surprised me was the time spent off the bike. When you are not racing, you explore on foot. These moments do a great job of making the game feel more like Star Wars. You walk through hangars, talk to aliens, and find upgrades. It adds a sense of place that the original pod racing game never had.
I am incredibly optimistic about what I have seen. This feels like a long overdue spiritual successor to Episode 1 Pod Racer. It takes the core idea and updates it with smart roguelite mechanics and a clear love for high-speed arcade action. I cannot wait to play more of it.
